in this section, we will look a bit closer at the version numbers of QGIS and the main libraries that are included in QGIS This section is mainly if you are intent to be a long-term user of QGIS and want some basic understanding of what is described in the other bug notices and workarounds available on the internet.

QGIS has a roadmap for upcoming versions available at https://www.qgis.org/en/site/getinvolved/development/roadmap.html there is also a so-called visual change log where you can see the new features being included in the different QGIS versions. QGIS heavily depends on some core geospatial libraries that are used in several other geospatial software packages other than QGIS. You can see the main libraries and the version number used in the current QGIS by going to the Help menu and choosing “About”
